I just watched this charming video and couldn’t help but feel delighted by the interaction between the owner and his Indian Ringnecks. The owner introduces us to his two beloved birds, Asparagus, a female ringneck, and Creampuff, a male ringneck. It’s heartwarming to see how much he loves and cares for them.
The owner shares his journey of acquiring these birds, starting with Asparagus, whom he had to hand-feed. He then talks about Creampuff, who has a handicap, and it’s clear how much thought and care went into his decision to bring him into his home. The bond between the owner and his birds is evident, and it’s inspiring to see such a great example of how deeply integrated pets can be into our lives.
The video is about 15 minutes long and provides a wonderful look at the free flight training of his ringnecks. What stands out is that both Asparagus and Creampuff are mature birds, not fledglings. It’s common for new parrot owners to struggle with distinguishing between mature birds, fledglings, and juveniles. Often, we see videos of free-flying ringnecks that are still very young and dependent on hand-feeding. But in this video, we witness a well-established relationship between the owner and his adult birds, who freely choose to return to him. One particularly marvelous moment is when Asparagus decides to hang out with a few other ringnecks before returning to her owner.
I love how the owner emphasizes that the birds don’t need to be imprinted on humans to be wonderful pets. I’ve always insisted that hand-fed birds should still know they are parrots and enjoy the company of their siblings. This balance allows the birds to recognize their identity as parrots while also forming strong bonds with their human companions.
Another delightful aspect of the video is seeing the birds roam around the house, joining the owner at the table, in the kitchen, and even in the shower. This level of engagement and interaction is key to having an amazing pet. It’s not enough to place them on a stand and occasionally pet them; these birds need consistent play and interaction every day.
The playtime with the ringnecks is particularly appropriate and endearing. There is no sign of aggression, and it’s adorable to watch Creampuff chase a ball thrown by his owner. The mutual enjoyment and trust in their relationship are truly evident.
This video is a wonderful example of how Max, the owner, cares for his ringnecks. It’s a touching reminder of the joy and fulfillment that come from having these intelligent, affectionate birds as pets. Bravo, Max! This video is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.
Best wishes,
