To Dear Datsun & Family, and Mikaela,
Thank you very much for your warm welcomes. I appreciate your valuable information and offers for assistance. No doubt, there will be many times, especially in the first few months of bringing our baby home, that I will be asking for your assistance. Regardless to whether i need to ask a question or need assistance, I will be here.
There is not alot of information on the IRN.....and the information available can not always be reliable. Already I have heard so many conflicting stories.....it started to make me get a headache until I found this site. This site is absolutely fabulous, which is why I joined this forum, and makes me feel confident to refer to this site for assistance with my IRN. I want to be the best parent I possibly can. Our animals are our family and treated with the same amount of love, care, and respect.....which is why I believe and know that our new baby IRN will fit right in with us.
Our new baby IRN, 5 weeks old atm, is blue. We do not know the sex of him/her. My 10year old son has called him/her "Cookie" after the green IRN we first saw. We could have brought him/her home on the weekend, however, I work 3 days a week and unavailable to feed "Cookie" while he/she is on 3 feeds per day. We are in touch with the breeder/vice versa to keep up to date with the progress Cookie is making. Once Cookie is on 2 feeds per day, we'll be in the car and picking him/her up asap, so we can all begin to form a bond with him/her & vice versa.
We are going shopping for a cage, toys, food and the necessary items needed to ensure Cookie has a happy home, well a 2nd home anyway. We also have a handraised tame 6mth old rainbow lorikeet who spends all his time out of the cage when we are home.
(Cookie and Charlie - rainbow lorikeet, will be kept in separate rooms each with their own special time with us during the day - I have read that it is best not to mix the 2 different parrots together)
I will love to post pictures of Cookie on the forum when we bring him/her home.
I love looking at the pics here on the forum.
I look forward to being a part of this wonderful forum and talking with you all.
Keep you posted.
