How are your pair behaving towards one another? Is the male feeding the female or preening her? Have you seen them mating?

Some females won't lay right away.

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay

The Hens usually sit in the nest box for about 2-3 weeks prior to laying eggs, what she is doing is packing the nesting material down. Eggs should appear in the not so distant future

thank you all for the help. I haven't seen them mating . However he is picking at her. and they do feed each other alot. She hogs most of the food lol. They are both pulling out feathers from each other.

It sounds like they are using each others feathers to use as nesting material, once the nest is completed, mating will occur

Funny how different species of birds are. My King Parrots have been an item for 3 years but I can't get them to breed. The female practically lives in her breeding box but nothing happens. Hubby thinks she's frigid. Thought about a bit of Barry White and some porn  I've spoken to a few people who breed Kingys and they have all told me how hard it is to get them to breed. Still trying.

Try giving them some fresh branches, paper bark and other stuff to chew on. Chewing is a stimulation and after a few weeks, they might get the idea

Thanks Jeremy. I haven't tried paperbark. I put other branches in there and try a really varied diet - costs me a fortune at the green grocers each week! I think I spend more on the birds' food than on our family :? Not a lot of material around on king parrots. No sites like this.
