I lose Audi at least once a week because he is far too adventurous for his own good... only way to find him is to play with his toys and he gets pissy and comes out to attack you for touching HIS things!
Audi needs 24/7 attention, I have handraised him from a 15 day old chick so he has no idea he is a bird, tried getting him another lovie for company but he would kill it, he beats up Datsun
If you work or are away from home for more than a couple of hours you need to get two as they seriously NEED company, they will pine all day otherwise. I am lucky enough that all my fids come to work with me frequently and have a ball.
Lovies go through about 10x the toys ringnecks do, Auds costs me a fortune in toys, at least 3 a week and we rotate every 2 days. He is soooo active he just plays hard all day. His cage is huge, because it needs to accomodate all his toys and have space for him to run and play, it needs to have heaps of floor space because they love to roll around on the floor with cat toys... Audi's cage is approx. 70cm tall x 1m longx 60cm wide and he uses every bit of that space.
The great thing about having multiple fids is that toys can be rotated around cages so whats old for the lovie will be brand new for the IRN! And lovebirds just don't know they are tiny, they think they're a cross between a macaw and a rottweiler and definately have NO fear. They eat the same things but don't expect Baby and the lovie to get along because lovies are terribly feisty...
I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, they are sooo much fun and loving towards their fave person. I can watch Audi play for hours, and playing fetch with a tiny fast birdie is oh so cute!
