How long should I wait to open nesting box

Post by aaronmartirano »

Help I had my first chick the 8th of april and I can now hear at least four in there chirping away so I am really eiger to see what happening in the nesting box but I dont want to disturb them .
I would like to make sure that there are no dead chicks or rotting eggs in there and to see them but have unfortunatly arranged the access panel to the nesting box so it is un accessable with out removing nesting box from the side of the cage as it was the way the parents preferred and only way they went in thier box.
what should I do and should I do it when parents are in there or not and should I remove the chicks from box and change bedding :?:
I am sorry I am a newbie to all this and I really dont want make miskates with my new babies or the parents and have already made some really dumb moves so tell me what you all would do

You can check the babies, you shouldn't have any dramas. Just make sure the parents go back in the box afterwards.
I would not change bedding or do anything with their nest. Just look and everything will be fine.
