I don't agree with a training diet limiting food is not healthy. You would do better to pick your training times when your bird is hungry like first thing in the morning or late afternoon to modivate him. After training give him his normal meal. What you do need to do is find a special food your bir...

To me... 45 degrees is totally and completely unacceptable. Adaptation or not. Well to this Northern person (New Hampshire) 45 is not all that cold, it's almost t-shirt weather. I've had the heat off in the house now for 3 weeks and my birds are doing fine. Today was the first day in many weeks it ...

Then I can take them outside for the first time!

You do know that even with clipped wings birds can still fly away. Please use a harness if you take them outside.

Oh No! don't clip his wings. Birds are ment to fly. My Trouble started doing this a few months ago so now when we sit together I hang on to a 1/2 inch thick dowl perch which is about 12 in long. I only let him on my shoulder for short periods of time when it's time to get off I touch the dowel to my...

Have you tried bribing him with food? Just sit in a spot where he can see you from the cage and eat or drink something. This is how I brought my guy around they can't pass up something to eat. It might take a few days to work. Also keep in mind is breeding time for most birds he could be hormonal.

there are a few risks with line breeding This is not line breeding it's Inbreeding, line breeding is breeding cousins together where as Inbreeding is breeding siblings together. Both of which should only be done when you have a very high knowledge of genetics and know the linage of the birds/animal...

There is a tree(that I made) . Can you post a picture?? I've been thinking of doing this for my birds as well. FYI - There is a new study out on pluckers they could not find any concrete information on why a bird does pluck but they did notice that birds that have cages close to doors pluck more th...

Any food can cause an allergy, but some more than others will do so. There are 2 yahoo lists that I would suggest joining one is feeding feathers which is great for anyone with birds. The other one is Feather Picking which covers both behavior, feeding socialization etc.

I read somewhere that you should not use Quick Stop on birds, most reccomend Corn Starch as an alternative.

Have you tried ruling out food allergies with the plucking?

Yep, toilet paper roll is totally encased in tape.... no contact with it. Why would you say sweet potato is a no no? Its very high in vitamin A, an excellent food for birds. I've always fed it regularly and haven't had problems. Athena It's only a no no if the bird is plucking, it has been linked t...

I took a toilet paper roll, cut it in half, and taped one end closed. Toilet paper rolls & paper towel rolls are not safe they have zinc in them and the glue used to attach the paper is not a non-toxic glue. It could make your bird sick. I tried the pluck no more with no results so I would not ...
