Hi Selma,
Birds can eat oats either cooked or raw. My birds eat them both ways. My IRN prefers them raw, and my CAG likes them cooked.
I think it just depends on the bird.
Hey Everyone, I'm going to be selling my ringneck. That Grey we got takes alot of time and energy. I don't want Nikki going wild, so I would rather find him a good home. I have him, his cage, and his playgym all for 250.00. Take what you want or take it all. I won't ship. Must pick up. I am willing ...
HI, Welcome to the board and congrats on the Irn. I have a green male who will be 7 months old on August 12th. He just started to wolf whistle and he's been trying to say "hello". And on Saturday we are getting an African Grey. We have been wanting one for a very long time. He will be 12 weeks old o...
HI, Thank you for that compliment. I am going to try an dintroduce them outside of the cage tomorrow. i have had them sitting side by side since Sunday. Nikki is out all of the time and I let the new baby out and let him/her crawl on me. The little fellow sure likes to snuggle in my hair or under my...
HI, Can anyone tell me if Irns and Conures will get along? These two birds came from the same breeder. I recently purchased a 9 week old green cheek conure from the breeder that I got Nikki from. Both of these birds are hand raised and hand fed. I haven't tried it yet. This little conure is so sweet...
HI, My Irn didn't start really being vocal until he was about 5.5 months old. He is 6.5 months old now, he is just starting to whistle, and I heard him trying to say Hello. I think it was hello. It sounded like it anyway. I was totally shocked. I thought it was my husband whistling at me! Talk about...
HI,
I always use newspapers. They are easy to come by, plus they are free. If you know anyone that gets the paper, if you don't, have them save them for you. Hope this helps.
HI,
Tes, your bird's flight fleathers will grow back. This usually occurs when the bird goes through a molt. They will have to be clipped periodically.
HI Again, can anyone tell me how to get rid of fleas when there are birds in the house? My sister has a pair of finches and her dog has fleas, she needs to know how to get rid of them without hurting her birds. They are starting to mate, so she doesn't want to move them. Any ideas? I don't know what...
HI Everyone,
Can anyone tell me if an Irn and a Parrotlet would play together outside of their cages? I'm thinking on getting a parrotlet, but I don't want either one to get hurt. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it.
HI, That's what I'll do, introduce them to each other slowly. By the way, does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of fleas in a house with birds? My sister has a pair of finches and her dog got fleas from outside, now they are in the house and her finches are on eggs, she doesn't want to move ...
HI, I would never leave them alone. The thing is the breeder that I got my Irn from, is the one I want to get the parrotlet from. He puts different species together when they are young. It seems to work for him. He seems to think they should be ok to play together. I won't house them together of coa...
HI, My fault, I misspelled it. www.forestparkaviaries.com. My bird is great. As a matter of fact, I am going to buy another bird from him I believe. He still has the website. I was just there this morning. He has updated it. He has some great birds. He goes to all of the bird fairs in Ohio. It lists...
HI,
Good point!! I would rather have a tame bird.
I could never leave him in his cage all the time.
I'm so used to him being out with me when i'm home.
He is only in his cage when i'm at work or not at home
HI everyone, Is it the norm for irns to start talking when they are 6 months old? Is it ok if they start later, if they are going to talk? Mine has been doing some mumbling, but no word yet. He is 6 months old. He just turned 6 months old on Tuesday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
HI,
I know of a breeder in Ohio. I bought a baby Irn from him in May. He has some great birds. Some of the friendliest I have ever seen. Here is his website. You can get his phone number and address there also.
HI, I have an IRN that is 5 months old, he isn't too noisy. He will squawk in the morning , noon, and just before bedtime like Ringneck said. But to me it isn't unbearable. I had cockatiels and they were worse, they never shut up. My husband couldn't stand them too much. He likes this one much bette...
HI Again, My cage is 29.5"wide x17.5"deep x33.5" long. Mine is really big. But Nikki has alot of room. Probably more than he needs, but more is better. And their tails are so darn long. I have room to put toys, different size perches and food dishes in there and he still has plenty of room. I don't ...
Hey, greenwing05, i guess I should have paid better attention, cause you did say you had one before. Sorry. There are alot of us on here and we all love our birds. There are some very smart people here also. Ringneck is one of them. Very smart person. He (I think) really knows his birds. He is prett...
HI, Great!!!!!!! I will be waiting. My Irn was 4.5 months old when I got him. He is now 5.5 months old. He is the greatest bird I have ever had. I think you will be quiet happy with yours. Have you ever owned one before? Or should I say been owned by one. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. I'm comp...
HI, Thanks a million, Ringneck. I appreciate you putting my pics on for me. If you think he is a boy, that's great!! Not that it really mattered, I am already totally owned by this little bundle of joy. While i'm at it, how long does a molt last and when do they start? Thanks, Again,
HI DANI03, Life with a ringneck is great!! They are smart birds,They do go through a bluffing stage. They get kinda mean. You wil think it went back to wild, but it didn't. it will lunge at you, try to bite you. But just hang in there, it will be the same friendly bird again, soon. Just pretend that...
HI Everyone,
Can anyone tell me how old an IRN is when they moult? Do you have to do anything special for them? I spray mine daily with warm water and he has a little tub of his own.
HI,
My irn is 5 months old and he/she does the same thing. I thoght I was hearing things, But my husband heard it too. I don't know what the norm is. I think it is kind of neat, though.
Nikki is very entertaining. No matter what sex he is.
HI,
Is there any way to know the sex of a young irn without dna or waiting for them to develop a ring? I'm not sure if the male has different characteristics than a female or vice versa. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
