Birds and fleas

HI Again,
can anyone tell me how to get rid of fleas when there are birds in the house? My sister has a pair of finches and her dog has fleas, she needs to know how to get rid of them without hurting her birds. They are starting to mate, so she doesn't want to move them. Any ideas? I don't know what to do to help her.

Put Frontline Plus on the dogs and vacuum like crazy. Fleas only spend 10% of their time on the animal, the rest is in the environment, so vacuuming helps. Ask the vet about the Frontline. After vacuuming, and out of reach of the birds, turn the vacuum on its side while it's still running and spray insecticide (i.e., Raid) into the vacuum to kill what was sucked up in the bag (or if it's bagless, what was sucked into the canister).
