Hello from David & Bobby

Post by David »

Hi All! Just signed up as I have recently purchased an Indian Ring Neck and stumbled across this site while searching for info on my breed of bird.

I've only got one bird, I'm pretty sure he's a boy but i ain't sure yet, the pet store i got him from said he would be around 12 weeks old.

I've got him a nice big cage, plenty of toys and lots of free time to spend with him!

I only got him on Sunday so its still all new to both to us and we have not yet bonded (He won't even come near me  )

He's already got a healthy appetite and seems happy in his new surroundings and has already started to hang on the front of the cage being very enquisitive

I have done quite a bit of research with regards to entertaining him while i'm not thier (i either leave the Radio on or a Music channel on TV) I'm pretty sure it won't take long for him to get used to me as i'm not weary of him, i'm not forcing myself upon him and i keep putting my hand in the cage with peanuts (of which he loves and seeing my hand bringing these to him can't be a bad thing? right)

I've had a good browse the site and i think i could find this pretty useful as i am inexperienced, and enjoy speaking about similar interests!

Hello David and welcome to this forum!

Let me start out to say congratulations on your new addition! Ringnecks are awesome parrots and you’ll soon find out.

Sounds like you are off to a great start! Keep us updated and good job about not forcing yourself upon the bird. I know it can be exciting to hold your new addition but it causes more stress than good. So, again, great job and hope to see more posts from ya.

Take care and good luck!

Hey David,

Congrats on your new little bird! :D Just give him some time and before you know it he'll be chirping for you and want to be with you all the time! He'll be your best little friend. :) Just spend as much time as you can with him and be very patient. I think you'll be so impressed with the results!
