Hello...

Post by Mazziemom »

Hi,

How odd that I haven't found this board before, I am an IRN devotee!

I have two IRN's, a male and a female. Mazzie is my hen, she is lutino and of unknown age. She's been with me for six years now and is the light of my life... she's devoted to me, and I to her.

Buddy is my male, who is four years old this year. He's been with me since he was weaned. He's a green, and incredibly handsome. He's a mama's boy too... but he's much nicer about other people than Mazzie. The only person he doesn't like is my husband, but thats only during his hormonal season.

Mazzie is clipped, but Buddy is fully flighted, as she dislikes all other birds and will chase him. She cant chase him into the air though ;).

I also have an Alexandrine, who is 9 months old. She is my little darling... and is all ringneck ;).

On top of that I have a lot of other birds, and we run a parrot rescue so we often have many coming through... but the IRN's have my heart and soul.

Hey are you the one with the website about how you tamed down an IRN named Mazzie, a lutino? You sound like you are but then again I would be just putting two and two together and getting five... If you do run that site (the background is yellow and this one does run a bird rescue...once again it's that whole adding issue...) it is VERY nice. I was wandering around the web searching about IRNs before I actually got mine. This site actually helped me in deciding to get my bird.

Yep, thats my Mazzie :)

We run Feathered Family parrot rescue.

I'm really glad we helped you decide to get an IRN. So many people still believe they should be aviary birds... and its sad as they miss out on all that IRN love!

:)

Your site was so helpful! My choice to get an IRN was difficult. Most sites are so uninformed. Everywhere I went, they were downplaying this wonderful bird. Most of them told about their amazing colors but that they weren't campanion parrots. I heard some pretty lame excuses to why other's IRNs were so mean. I was so confused. I found a few other sites that were helpful but when I found this one and yours, it made me rethink about this parrot. I got myself imformed and found my Prinny. I am so glad I didn't choose another type of parrot. Oh and your Mazzie is sooo beautiful! I love those lemon colored birds. (Oh my bird is an albino of course  )

LoL! Welcome! I am a HUGE fan of your site as well! I must say that I too found your site very informative!

I can remember the days when I would type "Indian Ringneck" into a search engine and your site would be the only one with proper information pertaining to ringnecks.

It’s good to have you here!

Best wishes,

This si the first time I've come across your site- I like it. Behavior modification! Dogs I understand, but birds... they're a different story. I'm looking foward to reading your answers to behavior questions here too. Fascinating. :)

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
