Can someone help me please?!?!?!

Post by krispy »

I was wondering if anyone could help me please. I have a few questions and I'll try not to babble on for too long.

The first one is, I bought my IRN from a pet shop and I don't know how old he is. (The shop didn't know either.) How can I tell, or where can I find out?
Number 2, as my Birdy (thats his name - original, hey!! ) is an albino, he obviously won't get a ring, how can i tell what sex he is?
Number 3 is, when my IRN is in the couch with me, sometimes he walks over to me with his head down, shoulders slightly out and forward and makes a soft whistle/gurgling sound. I was wondering what this means.

I've had him for nearly 5 months now and he's an angel. He is wolf-whistling, and I'm trying to teach him to say hello.

Hey another Albino owner

Hi there! I too have an albino IRN named Prinny (BTW We love pics around here so do post  ) Truly there is no differece between the sexes coloring when it comes to albino IRNs. Can you touch/pet your bird? If so, or atleast this is how I found out mine was a girl, when I would touch her just behind the head where the 'mask' feathers end she would tip her head back and cluck like a chicken. This is a female thing. Males (or so I have heard) will bow their heads and do a little dance. Also if you can post a pic maybe someone around here can tell just by looking at your bird. Males sit with their feathers loose and will look more like a parakeet, more rounded heads on their profile. A female sits with her feathers tight and they have a little more squarish looking on their profiles. Look around at the Photo forum.

I don't think anyone else (or atleast no one has posted about theirs) owns an ablino IRN. I have heard that they are pretty uncommon, hence why they wouldn't be around here as much. If I may...how much did you pay for yours? Personally I love the albinos...there is something about them that makes them sparkle.
