Pale...

Post by Mikaela »

I know many girls have rings to some degree but Boo's ring is VERY pronounced. It is MUCH lighter than the rest of her. Do some boys have really pale rings or no?

To be honest, I havent done enough research on the whole ring thing because I assume I have girls so why bother. For the sake of knowledge I plan to start now.

Thanks!

Umm A little on rings. Hens can get a very very light ring, just a lighter shade of their natural colour.

Males have a very pronounced ring at about 2+ years.

Albino birds dont have rings at all so you cant tell male or female from looking at them.

For Lutino males the ring is red. For Blue and Green males the ring is black.

But you can still see the ring on the hen like on poor old azzy here

Its really a bird to bird thing... Buddy's ring was pretty obvious by the time he was about a year old, but didnt come in fully until 2 years old. Mazzie has a soft ring, the hens version... but its not easy to see on a lutino hen like it can be on a green or blue.

Both Hane and Tsume have pale black/gray rings. We're not sure if this means anything so we're not holding our breath. Since they're only about eight months we're not sure of anything regarding their sex.

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
