Smart Archimedes

Post by ringneck »

Just thought I might share something funny with all of you. Today, I just got done cleaning and my nephew and I sat on the bed to play with his toys. While my nephew played with his action figures, my IRN Archimedes looked at him and started to turn around. He kept turning and turning until my nephew gave him the toy he wanted. Really cute, you just had to be there.

He started turning because I taught that to him with clicker training. He can also wave and pick up toys placing them in a small box. It just goes to show you these creatures are smarter than most people make them out to be. Think about it, he performed a trick thinking his reward would be the toy my nephew was playing with! SMART BIRD!!!

Take care,

Best wishes,

Very smart bird!

That sounds so cute! So, did your birdie get his wish of the toy he wanted?

I wish ChaCha would learn some cute tricks like that! He's smart enough but just stubborn I think.

Yeah we gave him the toy.

It’s funny because if Archimedes gets naughty, I’ll just say “No!” in a stern voice and he bows his head and sticks up his foot. It’s his way of saying sorry or I messed up.

It’s funny, once you teach them tricks they start to incorporate them as a way of communication, or at least my IRN does.

How do you train the IRN to pick up things and put in a box?

Cheers!

Hi I.C.
I am just curious does your birdie pooph ... around the house? because when we let our maxi and joey out of their cage to let them walk around the carpet they keep dropping. And so as soon as they do that I would put them back into their cage. :(

thanks,
liz

What is this Clicker Training?

Post by AussieGirl »

Hi!

I was just wondering what is clicker training? How do we learn it, and teach our birds?
