Post by joker7390 »

i just recently purchased a male(8mos) and then got a female(6mos) so he would have a companion, but she is not being too friendly to him, can anyone plz give me any insight on what i can do to help them get along alot more better, or will it just come with being around each other a lil more.

Hi! Time will do it. But first you should have them in separate cages
for now. Then as they settle in you should see how they react to each
other. Yet your way can be good too, Just give them a few days maybe
weeks & they should get along fyne in the same cage. :D

Wait! As long as the cage is big enough for the two of them, Right? :?:

You need to put the two cages side by side so they can see each other. Always have a back up plan if you get two birds if things don’t go well. Hopefully you have them in separate cages. Because they need time to adjust to each other. Once you see them getting along side by side it’s time to let them out together. I have an extra cage in case of an emergency. It’s small but you never know what can happen.

Yeah as courtney says, once they settle with each other with cages side by side, put them together in a cage big enough for them to escape each other if the moods get the better of them. Even the best bonded friends get testy and there will always be one dominant bird (usually female over male) if thats the mix. They will especially get bitey at each other when they cross each others favorite space or if there is food involved.. lol

Natural pecking orders are inevitable. So long as there is no persuing relentlessly they will be fine
