hi i have recently brought a irn from a family member i believe it to be female, the birds previous owner told me that she has never really tried to tame her or spent much time with the birdie.
i would like to know what the best ways to try and gain trust with Rudie.
she wont go any wer near me not even if im offering food, if i try to handle her she draws blood.
i have been reading through the other posts but i cant seen to find anything
i hope im doin this right?

patience is very important also put her cage near a place you spend a lot of time so she can watch you when your focus is on other things ei near the computor or your chair when you watch telly talk to her from those spots & pretty soon she will start responding to you
remember if they didnt try taming her she has no idea what your trying to do & its probably freaking her
the other thing i was told which has helped with all my fids eat in front of them!!!!
i dont know why but this seems to calm them i always try to eat at least on thing a day that can be shared
with pickle (who is a little panic bub) every day i eat penut buttter toast as inm walking past his cage i drop a piece of crust in his bowl say toast for pickle & walk off& when we plan to watch a movie or a cool tv show (supernaturals on tonight yay!) i make popcorn with an air popper the birds all know that sound means yummy stuff!
with an older bird it will take longer to tame but the rewards are great i have an older bird i got over a year ago & kieron onlt sat on my hand for more than a second for the first time yesterday thear are heaps of post with lots of advice on this
