Hi from Jo and Kia

Post by Jo_parker »

Hi im jo,
I rescued a IRN from an RSPCA centre where she had been for 10 months (shes only about a year old). Firstly i wondered what i had let myself in for, but now im totally in love!
Gone is the screatching in the early hours and she has settled in nicely.
I know i am going to have a challenge trying to train her but she is getting better and better each day.

Id welcome and tips on everything!

Thanks :)

Welcome to the community!! I'd say just spend lots of time with her. Don't necessarily take her out. Just sit by her and talk to her in a sweet voice. Offer a treat through the cage bars. She'll warm up to you. It'll just take time. I would love to see pics of her!

Yeah she's quite tame....takes food no problem. Ive been letting her out of her cage onto the playtop, but she only really comes out for food then goes back in....no flying.

I really want to hand tame her, but probably will be harder to now she's that bit older. she just goes back into her cage if i try and pick her up. She was ok with sitting on my shoulder but she bites my ears :(

how long have you had yours for?

Oh! that's good! patience is the key.

It's possible to each an old bird new tricks. How old is she?

I've had Sky for about 2 months now. He's about 4 months old.

There's a thread on her about how to upload pics.. I'll go grab the link for you. I know how to do it, so if you're still a bit confused let me know. :)

It can be found in the IRN Photo Forum. Good luck! I'd love to see pics of her!!

Hello Jo welcome :)

Good on you for rescuing a IRN :)

What colour is she?

Good to read that the screetching has settled down.

Sounds like she has gone to a really great home.
Well done!! :)
