Possible outcomes with a Cinnamon female.

Post by Peachykeen »

I have a cinnamon female that I am setting up this season for breeding. I have a gray male and a blue male. Which pairing would produce the neatest results?

She is difficult. I am not sure how this year will go. Last year she showed no interest what so ever in mating. Hopefully this year will be different.

If anyone has ever had a cinnamon- I have yet to find out if the males develop a ring like the other mutations or do they look like females?

Thanks for any input!

Do you know anything else about the cinnamon hen?

Is it green split blue? or you have no idea if its split at all?

If it is just green cinnamon, the blue male with it will throw all green birds, all will be split blue, and the males will be split cinnamon.

If the hen is green cinnamon split blue...
you get blue and green split blue birds, males only split to cinnamon.

If you put her with the grey cock and she is just green cinnamon,
grey green split blue, green split blue, males all split to cinnamon

If with the grey cock, and she is split blue,
grey, blue, grey green split blue, green split blue, all males are split to cinnamon.

With any normal male... you will not get cinnamon young. Just split males and normal hens.

Cinnamons look just like normal colours cept powdery / lighter shades, with very very faint brown tinges on some birds. They get the full ring etc just like non-cinnamon birds.

Thanks so much for the detailed response. I don't know anything about all three as far as their parents.

Last year the gray male got with a blue female but she busted all the eggs - so I have no idea.

The blue male was not ready last year.

I lost two great breeders to an invader to the aviary- we have yet to figure out how they got in- but we found the pile of feathers in the woods about 15 feet away. One was a proven hen and the other was my turq/lutino male- he was a great breeder. IT was a huge loss. I just hope they didn't suffer long. We have moved them all indoors and the whole thing has been very very upsetting. I just can't seem to cut a break with my breeders. I am hoping this season will be better than last year.

Again thanks for all the details- I have printed it off so that when the babies come I will have an idea of what they daddy's are as far as splits.
