Silly season already?

Post by Lauren »

 Yoda seems to be head over tail for Jibby the last few days. S/he's been bitten by the lovebug! Everytime I look at them, Yoda is trying to 'woo' him. S/he is actually the one chaseing Jibby, and gets angry when Jibby doesnt pay any attention to his/her attempts at getting some 'special kissies'. Yoda doesnt leave him alone for 2 seconds. S/he is constantly walking up to him and 'cooing' with head back, breast to the floor with that twinkle in her eye. Her new favourite thing to say is 'Woo wooo.. I love you Jibby'. Yoda will say this to Jibby over and over until Jibby replies with 'I love you'. Then Jibby gives in and does his dance, then they 'special kiss'. They repeat this for hours!

Also is rubbing beaks up and down a surface like the wall a mating 'ritual'? Because they both do this before 'kissing' and it seems to get them both excited.

Yoda has also suddenly started attacking random things, for no reason?

I was eating a banana in the kitchen today, Yoda out of nowhere hovered around my face trying to attack the banana! Not me, just the banana? Normally s/he loves nanas!

Its amazing at they can change literally overnight! So funny to watch.

I swear my birds are lookin for a good time all year round. Louis will feed hoff, every day even out of season. He follows her around and does the heart wing thing, and say hello baby, over and over again. he can say other things but to her thats it. he looks like a dirty old man in a trench coat when he does it too, so it's just hilarious. hoff keeps going into my kitchen and trying to claim my oven mitt. she prefers setting up campo in a bag type thing instead of a box, she actually hates the nesting box. i had to take it down because she would attack it. i had to give her my mitt and go out to buy a new one because i would go into the kitchen and grab it without knowing she was in there at first, and then get a good nip for intruding on her domain. strange birds, but i love them.

the beak rubbing thing... i dont know WHAT it is but Spit does this too when hes doin a dance. he'll do it on a perch, food bowl, cage bars.. anything! he just rubs his beak really fast and then stands bolt upright dead quick, eyes pinned going "wwwooooooo" and clickin his tongue lol. he gets reeallly excited over it and if u hear or see him do it you know a dance is going to follow

 This weekend I will definately try and get them on video. Just hard to get sometimes, they play this catch me game, where Lola leads, then calls for Jibby to follow.. so as soon as they start to give kissies, Lola takes off.
