Ginich and the BIRDIEBREAD Crowd are back!

Post by Ginich »

Hi- It's been awhile since I've posted so I thought I would reintroduce myself and my flock. I see many friends from another board and some new folks and FIDS here, also! I am proud to list this board among my favorites on my website (so many of my "old friends" are here, how can it not be?) and in the next BIRDIEBREAD™ newsletter. Just PM me with your regular email to subscribe, if you are not already on the list.

For those that don't know me, I have 3 cockatiels who are Hurricane Charley rescues from 2004. A good friend of mine with FWCAS rescued 25+ birds. After 3 yrs, lots of good nutrition, a safe enviornment and love, they are just starting to act like pets again. I am also active in Florida West Coast Avian Society www.fwcas.org and their new Rescue. In the past, I have fostered 2 IRNs,Tinkerbell and Poppi, who now have great new forever homes.

Since then, I have fostered Shrek, a Quaker and Fiona, a maroon bellied GCC, who lived together for 20 yrs and were dropped off at the pound  when their people decided to retire to Mexico! I ended up adopting both of them.

Then, I fostered Chelsea, an Orange Wing Amazon, who was a delight but within two months was adopted by friends of a friend of mine.

My involvement with rescues led me to develop a healthy, mostly organic treat/toy that morphed into a new business, BIRDIEBREAD™ Cones and Muffins which will soon be available in some specialty pet stores for the FIDS of Indulgent Parronts, but is, currently, available directly from my website or ,occasionally, on Ebay or Craigslist. I am a vendor at lots of shows and fairs in FL but will be expanding to GA and NJ this year also-so I hope to meet some of you in person! Isn't it amazing what fostering a few fids can lead to??

WOW your quite a busy lady and you find time to make all that birdie bread? You go girl!! I couldn't help but notice Poppie is a plucker. I have one myself and had all kinds of tests done on Tango and found out it is a food allergy. It's like you described Poppie. He grows out so pretty then one morning I go to look at him and he's bald. We have narrowed it down to something in the seed mix they get for a treat. Peppers I'm thinking. He just went through another plucking because I forgot that my other birds were out getting their treats and Tango helped himself to some and next thing ya know he is bald again. Well sorry I started rambling Welcome to the site!! I'll be sure to order me some of your birdiebread when I get time.

Great, Donna. Just PM your regular email and I'll send you a newsletter with all the details, a coupon and an ingredients list, too! Thanks for the tip on the Pepper allergy-I'll pass it along to my friend who has Poppi. This won't make Poppi happy; he loves Hot Pepper BIRDIEBREAD cones, lol.

Welcome. That's great you are able to work with your little taste-testers like that. At least you know it's work you'll love!

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
