newspaper ripper

Post by lutino »

Hi
My IRN has been ripping and chewing up news paper lately. I dont know its sex tho. He/she is about 8 months. Does this mean anything?
Also, i read somewhere that males make a bow and arrow shape when they stretch. Is this true at all?

Thanks
Lauren

 hehe, I think nearly ALL IRNs love to rip up any paper! I think it just means your baby is having alot of fun! hehe.

I'm not sure about the stretching. I thought most birds stretch the same way? One leg that way... and one wing that way... (Sorry Aussie Joke)

Mine loves to rip up paper....especially when I am trying to catch up with current events & she thinks I should be playing with her!

Yep newspaper is an allround favorite. Newspaper screwed into a ball is a great fun toy to chew, attack and jump on. The stretch I am not sure about either, my male IRN do it, never noticed if mickey does it, but our female cockatiel does it and we call it the angel stretch.

Another good idea is keep your egg cartons. Cut them up and thread them with some newspaper. You can make a hanging toy or just a foot toy. Yoda goes CRAZY over this. Its all destroyed in a couple of minutes but oh so much fun! :D

 Ah, the simple pleasures in life! I was at a flea market today and found alot of bird treasures. I found a cage as tall as I am and about 3 times the diameter of the cage I bought for Klaatu when I first got him. The initial cage is an adiquit size and nothing wrong with it but what the hell? Bigger is better isn't it? It's so big I will have to strap it to the top of my car to get it home. Also bought him a "toy" that is a rope of palm leaves braided. The idea is that they are supposed to unravel it and chew it to shreads. He get's the new cage next payday.
