Why won't he take a bath?

Post by aaren09 »

Pickle has taken his first bath already, but he doesn't like to tke them very often. He doesn't like to be sprayed and I haven't tried putting him in the shower yet. Is it a bad thing that he doesn't take one very often? What should I do to get him to take one? I have a big bowl that I put water in and I sit it on top of his cage. The water isn't that deep either. Will he get more used to it after a while?

Some birds are private bathers. My little Pistachio won't bathe if I am watching. I take her into the shower with me, but she still doesn't like it. So I just place a bowl in her cage and walk away. Eventually she will bathe in it. If I leave her fresh water every day she will bathe while I am not home. I just remove the dish and clean it daily.

Try that just leaving a shallow dish in the cage for them to bathe in, you may be surprised.

Lol, thats true.. some will only try new things when your not watching!

Give him a bit more time. My 2 will bathe every second day and it took Yoda a few weeks to get used to the birdie bath.
