moulting

Post by Peanut »

I have noticed over the last two days that Peanut has lost a lot of down feathers. He has also lost a few other bigger feathers. Does this mean he is starting to moult? He has also been sassy to anybody but me latley. He wont even let my boyfriend come near him. hehe.. He like looks at me like (Help me mom) then runs over to me and cuddles right under my neck. Its weird, but cute. I also give him some treats in his treat dish everyday like fruits and veggies. He is usually screaming at me and yelling at me to move faster and put them in his dish, but the last 3 days or so, he hasn't been to interested in eating them at all. I think this may have something to do with moulting maybe? hehe, he has also been looking at thimself in the mirror and making these weird screaming noises that start quiet, but then get louder and louder. They usually accumulate into him swinging like tarzan from toy to toy in his cage, and then a massave dose of beak rubbing on everything. He's such a weirdo

Sounds like it, but Magellan has been somewhat psychotic lately and is not moulting, so maybe it is all birdie hormones!

I think you're right about the hormones. I always give him kisses before bed, and last night I put my hand in there to get him, and he bit me HARD. I continued to try to get him, and he was still being all sassy. I closed the cage door and tried again, and this time it worked, but when I went to give him a kiss, he nerrley bit my lips off! Holey cow, maybe he's started bluffing.. Or maybe its from the moulting... I went to get him this morning, and he was fine. Weird

Whew, can you figure them out?

I can't. Just can't tell from day to day what they are thinking.

One day no way I can get Nila to peaceable come off just this one door of the cage, next day he's like "what just pick me up I won't bite"

I think he just wants to keep me from getting too cocky with him.
