help please

Post by Amanda »

Great to find a site for the Indian ring neck babies!!! I know i am a newbie but i was hoping i could ask some help right off the bat!?...

I have a new IRN, unfortunately he is not in good shape. Long story short i was driving to a friends house last week and at a stop sign in her neighborhood i heard this terrible screech (being a bird lover i knew it was not a wild bird ). I looked and saw a tiny white cage outside in the yard of a house. Inside was a scared to death IRN! by the way it was about 32 degrees out!! So i promptly pulled in the drive way. When i knocked on the door and asked about the bird, the lady said "i hate that thing i was about to let it go" ........well I now have a scared IRN with no tale feathers and a upset sun conure (my baby, she likes to be an only child). So any way any advice to help this baby along to a new healthy life would be great!!!
Just a little info on him....He seems to have been at least some what tame before. He will sit on your shoulder after much screaming and flapping... I found this out when i had to clean his "cage" nasty!!! I have tried to let him be for the most part just until he is settled a little. I have not put him in a bigger cage yet because he is so traumatized but i plan too tomorrow. When you get close him he chirps and runs to the other side of the cage holds on with just his beak and holds his feet inclose to his stomach....I have been around birds all my life and have never seen this behavior out side of play, any thoughts?? well thanks and hope to here from everyone soon!! Sorry for the long post.

I replied in your introduction thread and so did a few others if you haven't looked there already. :)

Edit: Sorry if that seemed redundant. I just wanted to be sure in case you only subscribed to this thread and wouldn't wander in unless you saw a reply. Some are like that and I didn't want you to think we didn't answer you. :?

I've been called 'birdbrained' before, but somehow I don't think this is what they meant. say:hah-nay
