question...take her or leave her

Post by savannahhorse »

I have to drive to Colorado this month and will be gone for 5 days. My son is going to stay home because of our dogs, we dont want to take them. Anyway, I was wondering if I should take honey with me instead of leaving her. She will not have anything to do with anyone in the family but me. Should I leave her so she will get used to my son? Or take her? Im not sure what to do......need advice....

take her or not?

If there were any way I could take my bird with me I would.
Just because I'm that attached. I think it's more for my peace
of mind than for the bird. Even when I had 3 parrots of different sizes I travelled with them.

However I recently spent 10 days with my sister because she had surgery. She has a cat that I was concerned about and I have a husband who was insistent I not take Nila as he was staying home and could take care of him. Nila will never willingly go to my husband. I did finally leave Nila with my husband and everything turned out fine. Nila was happy and healthy when I got home and glad to see me.

So the moral of my story, if you won't be able to enjoy the trip without the bird along and you think it's a safe environment for the bird I say take her, but if you leave her with your son she'll more than likely be fine too!!

I'm sure she would be fine here. I just dont want to mess up the 2 months of hard work to finally get her to trust me and let me love her. By leaving her here.

and here I have the opposite worry..... I am going out of town & I have a couple of teenage girls who are taking care of my menagerie. They had to leave their birds behind when they moved here and are so thrilled to be able to play with mine. Suspect my "kids" will get a lot of attention when I am out of town & I may have to count noses in case my sitters get too attached to someone

I travel alot. When people die I have to go read their wills and ect. I spend alot of time in Jacksonville. A death a week lol. The thought I make money off of dead people bothers me kinda, but hey, someones gotta do it.

Besides, their kids just want to blow it anyway.

Ok, to the point. I use to take Baby with me EVERYTIME. He too will have nothing to do with anyone except Mommie, though he will step up for my oldest son and Daddy.

Anyway, I had to run to J'ville in a dash last week and I wasnt home. First thought, damn have to go all the way across town in Tampa traffic to get him. Then, I said no... he is a big boy now. He is staying at home this time.

And he did. I came back to a bird that literally cant get enough of me. The trip was nice without Baby because I wasnt spending my time making sure he was comfy.

Did I miss him? YES. Will I leave him home from now on while on business, Yes. Takes alot of stress off him and me.

Baby had literally driven 1000's of miles with me. Now that I see he is ok without me for a few days, I feel bad for making him do that.

I thought it was for the best... turned out not to be true at all.
