Hello everyone!!

Post by Kateykat »

Hi guys,
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My names Katie, I live in sunny Queensland Australia. My husband and I have 3 fids, 2 tiels called Murro and Mullani and a feisty Quaker (or should I say quacker) called Miroki. We have been umming and arring for a while now over what kind of bird our next fid would be, and we both always came back to saying we would love a Indian Ringneck. So last week we put down a deposit on a little blue baby (s/he is 30 days old today I think) and s/he is being hand raised for us by the breeder. I am going up tomorrow to see the babies, so hopefully I can take a few piccies of the little plucked chicken.
I haven't seen babies that young before so I am really looking forward to going up and having a squizz.
I love looking at all the pictures of your birdies that you have in the photo forum, I keep calling my hubby and saying "I wonder if that's what s/he will look like when s/he grows up!"
I am also a member of bird board, so to all those familiar faces I give an extra big hello and wave
Oh and I have a question to while I am here. The breeder is saying that I should bring the baby home before he fledges? Anyone got any suggestions on whether I should or not? Am not to sure if this is a good idea or bad idea because doesn't that mean he won't be weaned yet either?
thanks everyone
*waves again*

hi and welcome!

I can't answer your question but I would like to suggest that you direct your question to Jeremy, our "go to" guy for breeding questions, also, he is in Queensland 8)

Actually, if you go to the breeding forum, under the heading "new season" Jeremy just posted pic's of his new babes. Cute little things :D

Can't wait to pics of your new baby!

Hi guys and thanks for the welcome, its a really great board that you have going here, I spend about an hour each night reading through all the posts taking notes and stuff for when our baby comes home.
Oooh and I am shopping for more birdie toys, you would be suprised how fast 2 tiels and a quaker go through them! They just looove to chew.

heheee Mikaela, I just learned some valuable advice. Never put an IRN up your shirt. I nearly wet myself when I read that! *ticks that off in her note book of things never to do*
