Paint fumes?

The maintenence people will be spot painting a bunch of spots on our bedroom walls today (Thursday). I always read that fumes are dangerous and can even kill birds, of course. We are keeping our lovebird out of there but my question is, if we air the place out will the fumes still be present by Sunday even if we still smell the paint? I don't want to put the new baby ekkie and then put the lovebird back in there if so. I assume the fumes will be gone in that time. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I do not want to subject the birds to any danger.

Also, they will be installing the blinds back up sometime next week. Will it be okay for the fids to be in the room at the same time? This is hard for me because they do all their work while I'm at work and sometimes do not say when they're coming in!

Open a window. I painted every wall in my house from ceiling to floor and my babies never had any problems. Literally... gallons of paint, day after day until it was done.

Also everybody if your getting new carpet put down move the birds to a different room and air out the room for a few days after it's laid. I also had to do this when I bought a new motor home. I travel a lot with the birds so I aired it out a week before I put the birds in it.

Thanks girlies! There were barely any fumes. We kept all the windows open. I even kept the sliding door wide open for a few hours. So, of course, I over worried for nothing again All is well for now!

Having an off day today and I got all of my stuff together and walked out of the house. Birds on the lania out of their cages.

I walked in the house (from that door you look through the living room out to the pool/lania) and couldnt find either of them out there and I was so sick. How could I have done this? NEVER have I done this. Always the last thing I do before leaving... say bye bye to my babies and put them away with a treat. I was being rushed but still.

It was awful, I was so upset I barfed after I hustled um all back up.

If rushed, leave your babies caged. Not worth it. I just wanted to be with my Babies before leaving and it could have cost me them.

I really worry about fumes too. Because you can't see them, unless there is a real fire or I'm cooking something
I use the smoke alarm as the timer for my meals

Just kidding but believe it or not, twice last week it happened. I immediately took the bird out to the lanai and aired the house out before bringing him back inside. After you've been around the smell you don't notice it so much and I worry that it could still be harmful.

But I think as long as some hours have passed the pollutants that would do the harm would be settled down toward the floor area. My arm chair science talking again. Poor Nila has been banished to the lanai when I use a strong cleaner on the bathrooms at the other end of the house.
Hope my logic is ok.

The household cleaners I use are natural botanical cleaners and work very well...without harmful fumes or toxic chemicals. I use either (Citra-Solve) made from citris extract. Or ( Caldrea ) products that are all made chemical free from botanical extracts. For disinfecting cage, toys, perches etc. I use ( GSE ) Gratefruit Seed Extract. A powerful disinfectant but all natural, no toxic chemicals or fumes. I order them online. They are concintrated and go a long way.

I started using vinegar and water in a spray bottle, and I got a powershot steam cleaner that really cleans the cage up nicely. I've used the steam cleaner in the bathroom too now. The only thing I haven't tried it on yet is the toilet. I will definitely keep the things you use in mind. I am allergic to preservatives that are in most cleaning agents, soaps, shampoos, hair dye, ink. etc etc. So I have spent many years now trying to find things to solve my problem. I find that anything that I have to spray from a bottle or aerosol causes me problems even if it says "all natural" Someone else on here recomended the vinegar and water and I spray the cage first, then go over it with the steam cleaner and wipe and it's clean as a whistle.
