Nila loves a new toy, he gets really excited. The red and yellow birdie is a baby toy. It's one he only gets when I'm right there with him and he runs to get it every time I hang it on the door of his cage. I put treats in the tire and he loves to get them out. He's become quite the acrobat with it.

OOOOMG!! *dies* CUTE LIL NILA!! And who'd have thought?! Dog toys!!! You're so very creative Sue. I'm sure Baby would be afraid of those big toys....Nila seems to just go right up to them. Does this come with age??
Sue,
I love the pictures! Great fun for the baby. I get my babies dog and baby toys all the time. WalMart has great .99 cent baby toys that I buy for my fids all the time. Teething toys and my babys love them.

omg I never thought about getting them dog or baby toys! great suggestion! those are such cute pics. Lou always pretends he's "scared" of his new toys, and when I turn my head he plays with them. I love when I catch him playing with it when he was allegedly "scared" lol they're so silly.
Try chinese finger traps. You remenber them from being a kid. They are hollow tubes made from raffia or straw and you used to put your finger in each end and when you pulled back you couldn't get them out...The trick was to push one finger in and then pull out...Well, I push peanuts or nutraberries inside and give them to the birds..They go crazy ripping the raffia apart to find the treats....or I use hot air popcorn in a brown paper lunch bag and roll up tight...They rip it apart to find the popcorn...Hours of fun...you can also use the dried corn husks in the grocery store for making tamales and wrap things in those, like fruit, veggies.......P.S. I purchased the finger traps on Ebay, 72 of them for under $13.00 with shipping.
Great idea Cindy. Nila loves something with a treat inside. Even if he doesn't eat the treat, if he knows it's in there he's not giving up until he gets it out.
I'll have to add that to my list of things to look for.
just a note, I don't put any baby toys with Nila unless he's supervised. I don't let them hang in his cage when I'm gone. Babies don't have the ability to tear things up like a bird does and since I'm not sure what's inside the suffing etc I don't let him have it unless I'm there to supervise. And some of the softer plastic, I'm afraid he would eat pieces of it and get sick.
