So I have a friend over and im showing George off to him. Now how typical is this George refuses to come off my shoulder to meet a new person, I decided not to push the issue and let him stay were he is comfortable. Well anyway I went to grab a couple of beers I opened mine and just as im about to drink it and George just flat out attacks the bottle.
I don’t know what provoked it but I will never put him in a situation like that again. I was telling him sorry and hugging him all the way to his cage, I put him in there so he could relax and calm down. I feel so bad for stressing my baby like that. He got extra treats and an extra long head rub with dinner. I really feel bad that he was that stressed, and its my fault.
I feel bad.

I have a very good boy but at a yr old, I still dont allow him on my shoulder. A bird what wont step right down doesnt deserved shoulder time. It instills bad behavoir down the rd.
They are too skittish, this species, Im not looking for a freak out and permanent scar. heh
But seriously, if your bird is hesitant to step from your shoulder, its shouldnt be there.

attack mode
I have found that my birds will attack anything that they think is a predator. They go into defense mode with the mop, the duster, the hose on the vaccum, the fly swatter, even a finger. That is why you should always use a sweeping motion with with your hand to get them to come to you, a single finger is a threat to them. When they do this behavior, I just talk to them calmly and try to finish quickly, or take them to another room while I am cleaning.
