MAX is GREAT!! :o)

Post by CarolinaWren »

 just wanted to let y'all know that Max's vet visit went VERY well ... she's a healthy little girl!!

:? ALSO, my daughter-in-law just phoned me up to come & rescue 4 baby chimney swifts ... they fell outta their nest & the woman packed 'em up & brought 'em to the vet's office. :? ummmmm, do i have "SUCKER" stamped on my forehead?? oh well, we went & got 'em & placed 'em in a teeny cage out on our screened-in porch ... i've already fed 'em & tucked 'em in ... they're in a bowl all snuggle-lishus & taking a napsy ... reckon i'll be up all night with them now. sheeeesh!! oh well, at least the woman didn't just "do away" with 'em, as some peeples tend to do around here :x ... sure am glad that i keep plenty of antibacterial soap around here ... my hands'll probably be raw by friday!!

OMG!! i got up around 5:30a.m. & caught Johnny out there giving them a drink from a syringe ... he's so schweet ... such a GOOD DaddyCakes!!

Hey Sucker,

What do you feed the baby Swifts? Mashed up insects?

Good for you raising up Swifts, hopefully when they grow up they'll hang around your home.

hey, Ed ... they're living on a diet of Science Diet dog food & boiled eggs (shell & all), all puréed together; i dilute it just a TINY bit & feed them with a syringe; the "bird girls" (owners) at the vet raise baby wild birds all of the time, so that's wut they gave me ... my local vet doesn't "do" birds or exotics, so i hafta depend upon the 2 ladies who work there & keep birds ... all that the vet does is sick or injured wildlife when it comes in ... there are foster homes, thank God ... this is why i had to go to Savannah for an avian vet ... it's a shame really ... cuz an avian vet in my neck of the woods is REALLY needed. :?
