taming my ringneck to like my boyfriend
Hi Everyone Maybe someone also had a problem like this My 8 months old ringneck Roscoe is not comfortable with my boyfriend He'll step up on his hands but he will not stay he'll fly off, not that he gets far cause his wings are clipped I don t know if he just doesn t like him or he s just afraid of him He won't take no food from him unless he s really hungry. Did anyone have this problem I would appreciate some help with this problem Thanks liljo202

You can't make your bird stay on anything if it doesn't want to, they are the same as us, if a guy you didn't know asked you to sit on his lap and held you down even though he knew you wanted to get off, you wouldn't like that too much would you?
I would give it time, maybe take a step back with giving treats yourself and let your boyfriend have a go at giving more. Start through the bars, maybe at whatever time of day he is likely to be hungrier. Let him be comfortable just seeing him around, and get more used to him. It's much better that the bird likes him enough to go to him in the first place, rather than being placed onto him.
I like to sit down with a treasure box of toys and things to chew with some sunflower seeds in amongst it all and maybe a monkey nut in there somewhere etc. It encourages them to come to us as we have the stuff they like, and its also nice for us to have them in such close proximity. No-ones being forced to be anywhere or do anything they don't want, so it's a win-win situation.

Hi liljo
Increasing foraging will help. There are several good threads on foraging on this forum. What foraging will do for you is make your bird work for its food (which is what birds do in the wild) which will keep it stimulated and it's brain active and it will make humans the easy way to get food.
Ellie.
