Hey guys! Daniel here :)

Post by danielgo__ »

Hey guys, I'm Daniel and I'm from Sydney, Australia. I actually don't have an ring neck pal yet, but I'm hoping to get one soon :). I've been reading these forums as a visitor alot and it just seemed like such a friendly helpful community that I couldn't help but register and introduce myself :). Also just a question would anyone know approximately how much a handraised violet blue male would cost?

Thanks!

Welcome Daniel :D It's great to hear that you are learning all about ringnecks before you bring one home. I'm not sure of the cost of a violet blue in Australia, but it is one of my favorite mutations. That's my boy in my avatar. Hope you have fun and learn a lot here :D
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

Hi Dan,

I think the "blue" is very impressive and popular. I love it, too. It was a table full of them at a bird show that really got me into the IRN. That said, the individual I chose happened to be green, and I "settled" for him because he was the particular individual bird I wanted to bring home. Older bird in a disadvantaged situation, rehab candidate, clear opportunity for me to do certain good, etc. In short order I was convinced no blue bird could ever be prettier than my perfect little green guy. (I think this happened on the long car ride home!) Once it's your bird, you see it with your heart, not so much your eyes. So good luck, truly, finding your "blue" bird, but if you, too, have to "settle" on another colour, do it with confidence. It'll be OK!

:D

Welcome Daniel :)

I'm from the uk so I haven't a clue how much your bird would cost, IRNs are still quite unusual over here but in Australia they are more heard of I think.

Keep posting and let us know when you get your new baby!

Haha thanks for the warm welcoming guys! And I know if I dot find a blue one I could easily fall in love with any other colour, ring necks are just beautiful birds in general! And when I do get my little fella I sure will post pictures of him for the whole community to see! Once again thanks for the warm welcoming guys! :)

Hi Daniel

Welcome. I'm pretty sure our member Chienderace breeds violets. You could search for him and send him a private message. He is based up here on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, so it would be a bit of a drive for you to come and get him. Failing that, you could try contacting the Parrot Society (www.parrotsociety.org.au) for a list of breeders. If you are interesting in working with a preloved IRN, you could try the Parrot Rescue Centre http://www.parrotrescuecentre.com/ - unlikely you'd get a violet this way though.

Best wishes.

Ellie.
