You might think this a stupid question - opinions wanted

Post by elaine »

I would like some opinions on what my baby does every day. He is now about 16 weeks old (in case it makes a difference). He has just started bluffing ( I asked about this behaviour not long ago). Ok, this is what happens: Each night I tidy his cage and remove vegies etc. there is one toy that slides onto the end of a short cement perch. It has the little balls on it too. Every night i put it back on the perch. In the morning I uncover the cage, a happy bird awaits. He has breakfast and the preceeds to push the toy off the end of the perch. Its a ritual. Is it a game or is he telling me he doesn't like it on the perch. Once the toy is on the floor of the cage he never touches it again. I know this cos he has other bells and balls on the bottom of the cage which he plays with yet this one he leaves alone. So, is it a game he plays or should I stop annoying him by putting it on his perch each night. lol

I reckon and its only my opinion from my experiences with my fids, is that he doesn't really want it on his perch. Especially if he simply pushes it off and never plays with it again. And also knowing that Kai and jordan like to have their cages and perches all to themselves.

But if you keep doing it no doubt it would become a familiar ritual.
