Hey Ya'll:
Got a new baby, a lutino cockatiel. I dont think it is true lutino though because it has dark eyes. According to my research, dark eyes means it was from a normal grey, I believe. Anyway, I believe lutinos are suppose to have pink eyes like albinos but my baby doesnt.
She is beautiful though. She doesnt have the bald spot like all other lutinos. Its barely visible, usually isnt in lutinos. It is usually huge.
I suppose I'll take the dark eyes over the bald spot on the head anyday.
Welp, just wanted ya'll to know I got a new baby. Think I might name her Luna but probably end up just being Punkin, as Baby ended up being just Baby. I only use real names at the vet.
Been a little down lately and cant snap out of it. Reckon hubby thought this would do it for me. He didnt know they are suppose to have pink eyes.
Maybe Jeremy can address this.

Got a lutino cockatiel...

Um...only the albino's in tiels have the 'red eyes'. Every single lutino I've ever had hatched or bought had dark eyes. That's just from my experience though, since I've only had tiel experience for 9 years I am by no means a true expert. Good news is good news! Post pics Mik! Is s/he a complete yellow bodied or a paler more whitesh? Hows Cheif and Baby taking to the new addition?

I love ya'll so much.
I got the pink eye stuff off the cockatiel.org page. Maybe I read it wrong.
You know how they run down the 'ideal requirements'. Says they are suppose to have pink eyes. This is weird, I'll look for the page.
Says she should have a red beak too but doesnt.
She is all white, like a dove, with a yellow head... lutino, right?
Chief is ok with anything, I still check him for batteries. The personality of a dial tone, bless his heart.
Baby loves her as much as she does Chief. Even though we are sure Baby is a boy, she still 'mother hens them'. If one flys off the stand she squacks a special sound to let me know... big help actually. I get busy with the kids.
About being down, I am going to talk to my Dr about it tomorrow. I dont want any meds but a RX for a gym membership so insurance may pay. I think exercise will work. I just need to 'break through' but cant seem to.
Reckon we've all been there. I mean Im not crying or upset or anything like that... just like you said... the blues. Feeling empty nest and he doesnt go to college until Aug.
Seem to have lost all interest in everything I use to love. Heck, dont even photo my babies anymore. A few months ago I couldnt have gotten a pic up fast enough. That sort of thing.
