hi I'm new to the forum and new to IRN's
I live in Australia and currently have 4 IRNs two males and two females. I got my first at the start of the year when I bought a few aviaries they came as a package. id never owned them before. just had finches for many years but we (the family and I) just fell in love with them when we got them home.
I've found the books at the local library are very limited and very aged. not much info about colours etc. so I've joined to learn more.
my first two both males came with really no info. no idea of age and one was kept in a very small cage. it took a few weeks for him to start flying again he didn't seem to have much wing muscles. they both had a diet of seed and tin fruit but I have them on a mix of fresh fruit and veggies, and a parrot mix.
my two girls have been with me for a few weeks the past owner said they are about 10mths I suspect they are older they too have the same diet as the boys but I do see they love the nectar mix for the lorikeet. im not sure if its the best for them no one can seem to tell me if its ok. but they seem to love it too.

Re: hi im new
my IRN never go near the ground. a lot of food is often wasted would it be ok to house Quails as bottom feeders so to speak.
