IS this any good for breeding rare birds
getting the DF Violet Mauve male with ordinary blue female for 1600
i know the pairing is not any good but is the price okay considering the fact that im buying in canada where birds are more expensive than the states
and is the really a DF Violet Mauve?

Re: Double Factor Violet Mauve male?
The male looks very dark but i wouldn't say it is a mauve violet(df).
Can you get or share some infos of the male parents? They must at least be violet cobalt x violet cobalt.

Re: Double Factor Violet Mauve male?
no clue on parents, sellers haven't mentioned that yet
I do see patches of grey, not sure if that makes it a DF violet grey or mauve violet

Re: Double Factor Violet Mauve male?
For such a bird knowing the parents is imperative.
Firstly as Madas mentioned they have to be both violet cobolt at least
My guess is that the breeder just means Double Factor Violet
He's calling it perhaps Mauve because it looks so, but not necessarily through genetics
As you know a DF Violet Mauve is extremely hard to breed
if the parents are both violetblue cobolt to get a DF Violet Mauve from that pairing you only have 12.5% chance of breeding it and also how do you correctly identify it?
Very nicely colored bird though, more pics would be nice and perhaps with a different camera? and take closer pics of the patched areas .
Grey is dominant over violet n cobolt so it could not be.

I'd go with at least DF violet, but possibly also DF violet cobalt. More pictures would help. Stunning bird, regardless...
