Hi everyone,
Well my Alexandrine is settling in well it seems, starting to mumble words, steps up, turns around, lets me tickle his beak, stroke him and starting to wave etc
The one issue I have is once it gets passed about 6pm he fluffs his feathers up on his perch utside of the cage anf refuses to step up, making very strange angry souding noises and lunging at my hand. He will NOT be moved!!
Any ideas firstly why he is doing this and secondly, how I can help stop this happening?
Thank You
Problems in the early evening... any advice?

Where abouts are you located?
If in Australia at the moment it's dark by then in most places. Perhaps he is settling in for the night and wants to go to sleep?
Is this with the lights on or off?

You could experiment by turning a light on before it gets near dusk and making sure he can't see outside - this will soon tell you if his behaviour is changing because he wants to go to sleep...

No worries!
Not sure if i'd do it every night or he may start being grumpy if he's not sleeping enough - but it will soon tell you if that's the reason or whether it's something else

You could also cover the cage to block out the light. I wouldn't necessarily worry about blocking out natural light but I would think about blocking out artificial light. My guys will put themselves to bed when the sun goes down if the artificial lights are off.

So how did the experiment go?
Was he more pleasant to you in the evening when he didn't realise it was night time outside??
