Cage Aggression
Hello, Im new here and I need some advice. Im going to see a male IRN tomorrow to possibly adopt. This is the info I have on him...about a year and 3 months old, talkative, friendly with other birds, cage aggression. She has alot of different birds and wants to downsize her flock. She says she as to get him out of his cage with a perch, but once he's out of the cage he's ok. Is there aything I can do to work with him on the cage aggression? I currently have a Goffin Cockatoo. Any info here would be great!

Re: Cage Aggression
Cage aggression is reasonably natural because the cage is the bird's home. However there are things you can do about it such as having a separate play area to interact with your bird.
If it's a problem when you are trying to change food and water, you can train the behaviour to sit on a particular perch (away from where you will be working with the food and water) and train them to stay there for a food reward.
