Male dancing... Baby is a boy

Post by Mikaela »

Hey:

How old are they when they start to dance? The males, I mean.

[EDIT]

I am uploading vid of it now.

I am going to feel like such an idiot. I believe now she isnt a she. I am so good at sexing, yet I mis-sex my own bird? Welp, there goes my credibility.

Visually, she is a girl. Behaviorly, isnt looking that way.

Here, tell me what you think. Loves awfully 'boy' to me. Almost etched in stone even.

If you have time, please look at both of them. If she is a boy I need to get use to the idea.

Welp, here goes. There is a cute vid of me teaching my baby to make his own sandwiches on there too. Feel free to take a look at that. After 4 boys, I have made all the sandwiches Im EVER going to make.

http://www.dropshots.com/picsofbaby1

The second vid is VERY convincing.

Jeremy would probably know this better than I do.

But Kai literally started that dance I video'd moments after I posted about how I saw females at the breeders that looked like kai and he could be a female, so he was 15 months. Unless i just didn't notice it earlier. But I doubt it. I always thought kai had a very male bird stance though. Wings out, lean and skinny, arched head.

Jordan seems to be exhibiting the same dance behaviour, when s/he is around the budgie and trying to be all big and dominant, wings out arched head, very lean and smooth. A few have told me it looks classic male and Jordan is only 20 weeks or so.

Then I guess just because a bird doesn't do the dance pre ring, that it doesn't mean its not a male. Every bird is different.

Anyway.. like I said.. Jeremy will probably be able to tell you, for sure, better than I

Cheers! and congrats again on baby's words :D

I was thinking the same but since Im 'her person' darn, 'His person' it still works.

He calls to me 'Good girl, come 'er girl' lol

All I needed, after a husband and four boys was another 'cock' in the house. grrrr

Upside, she will get the ring. Er, he.

This is going to get some getting use to but with that behavior being SO prodominant, I think I have to accept my Baby girl is my Baby boy.

hello I'm not sure on babys dance. I need to try to upload one of duckys dance.... I'm starting to really wonder about my girl being a boy. her dance is a lil different. but whats really messing with me is the fact that now she has two orange feathers one on side and one up top of her neck .can u believe that I keep thinking she'll pluck them out. shes gonna be 2 in April i thought she was a girlly girl.

Jared is so darn cute.

Many have said after seeing the vid they are at least 80-95% positive my punkin is a boy.

So, if your baby even remotely dances BOY.

This was the first time she ever displayed this behavior, seemed odd so I recorded it.

Im not as upset as I thought I would be, not upset at all really.

I guess that is what unconditional love is.

you bet....hubbys oh so jealous too to him ducky gets everything first on the list, breakfast, lunch dinner and love. he even asked me when the breeding season was and if I was gonna get a playmate for her..... now theres a thought... I dont plan on getting another yet but since he asked me i just might.

we went and looked at a 2 yr old U2 the other day 800.00 for birddy and cages. well `i set up a` 7 at night time to see him and wow he was screaming when we got there and wow on the ears although he was very sweet and playful couldn't take him home.I may be a SAHM but didn't think i have that much time since i saw the website someone hear posted.
so I'll just keep believing they're beautiful and great and just not own one..`

I don't know that I've ever seen Byndi or Remmi do a stance like that. But I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open for it now. And your baby boy is a DOLL. Good job on making him feel so special. You rock as a step mom! Just like I feel I do! Way to go girl! More of a mother to those children than either of their birth canals (thiers including my baby girl)! Love ya' girl!

Hugs,
Jen

My IRN is only 10 weeks old now and I am new to them. What is this about a dance? Is it only males that do it? When do they start?

Sorry to sound a bit dumb but what are the signs of this dance starting? is it like a silly behaviour or like running around? I am not sure

one of my birds has just started to show black feathers around his neck(very cool) and has heaps more pin feathers coming, BUT we have never seen him do the dance, we assumed he was a girl. so it was a huge shock when we saw these black faethers.

I have accepted it... her dance is way to elaborate to be a coincidence. I thought it was going to upset me, not really.

I am having a heck of a time remembering HE instead of SHE and Baby Boy instead of Baby girl. I'll catch on though lol.

Go figure, as well as I have been able to sex birds, I sexed mine wrong.

Gotta admit though! She seeeemed like a girl, til she started that daggone dance and holding her feathers all tight against her. She was Mommies lil puff ball baby girl.

lol

Unbelieveable. Although I have accepted it and Im actually excited about it. The first time I saw her do it I told her to stop acting like a boy, she was being silly... and recorded it.

I really thought I was just making a mountain out of a mole hill and all would say: Naaaa, shes still a girl. They all do 'that'. But, in my head I knew they didnt.

I was actually upset. I actually felt like this was going to weird out our relationship for a bit. Not at all. So.....

If Baby never teaches me a single thing, she taught me unconditional love.

She taught me how to be a best friend to a female (girls like me about like bad hair days... hurts and never understood why). I am just a guyish girl, more comfortable around me. I can burp, fart, scratch, curse and rather than being offended they laugh and bait my hook. MEN ROCK!

Now my lil man rocks. He will get the beautiful ring and still be my lil man... I just really wanted a little girl... living vicariously through her as far as jumping the cliff to actually conception.

Well, Reckon what little Cheif is? A cock too, Im sure. I have got to get some estrogen in this house if I have to buy some and burn it in my potpourri pot. :?

How ya sex cockatiels? The sooner I know, the better.

I was hoping Baby would find love in Achimedes or Loki but his love is a *** love... which is ok too. Now, I have to find a female that turns him on as much as Arch and Loki. I am a very tolerate parront. If I have turned him *** by putting pretty dresses on him and letting sexy males dance for him, I'll still love my little *** Baby boy.

Thank you all so much for etching this in stone for me. I wouldnt have accepted it otherwise (hard headed). Wanna know whats weird? Her breeder will NOT accept she is a girl. He also wont accept the fact he needs to stop smoking out before the shop opens hehe.

He is cool, just too touchy. If you aint one of my youngens or you dont pay my bills, I'd prefer not to be touched. It could lead to a beat-down very quickly, especially if my Italian husband saw it... so I always make him go there with me, yet he doesnt know why.

Hey tiels are pretty easy to sex pink “nose” equals female and blue “nose” equals male… just like budgies. I’m not sure that baby is a male like I’ve said before I have seen a female pigeon pin he male counterpart the tow I own before where both female one use to dance to the other and then the other would beat her away. Angie your baby Jordan may just be imitating kia or trying to claim territory… I’m most probably wrong.

How old is baby now any way?????? Coming up to about a year right?

Yes Hun, thanks for remembering *impressed*

She was boratched (born/hatched hehe) on Mothers Day '05

Thing with Chief if he is a pied/pearl, yeah... both, pretty weird. Anyway, he has a grey beak. Whats that all about?

Here, take a look. Tell me what ya think.

He tucks into his fuzzy beard but you can see the top of it. Its the same all the way to the tip... grey.

The Cere color on teils doesnt help with sexing at all. I know, we've had tons of them through here.

:(

You can usually tell in the adults by tail barring, females have it and males don't, however the pied birds sometimes trick you.

And, some birds don't come into adult plumage when you expect. My Pan was like that, I thought he was a she for 2 years, then he molted and became a boy LOL. Another friend of ours just went through that with her teil too, for a long time he was a she... then ... molt and a boy!

Screw the ring everyone longs for... this dance ROCKS.

Nice to watch. They strut like little peacocks lol. Proud and impressed with there ownselves.

The ring is going to be cool, yes. But, I prefer the male dance to the ring anyday.

Dont mean to bring up sad and try not to but if Peek-a-Boo wouldnt have been sick they could have had pretty babies together.

Pinning

Post by Darlene »

I have a question about pinning. Is pinning only a male thing? and does anyone have a video of thier IRN pinning, so I can compare to see if what my Luna has done is pinning. And Luna is one year old on the 21rst of March. I think I see a very thin dark ring beginning but don't know for sure. When should the male ring if it is a male? I'm just getting curiouse to know if Luna is male or female.

No, pinning is not only a male thing. My male and female do it constantly. It's actually how they show their emotions along with some of the actions they do.

My male started to show signs of his ring around 15 months or so. He wasn't fully ringed till after 2 years though.
