Parrotlets

Post by DarinA »

Does anyone know much about Pacific Parrotlets. My wife fell in love with one at the pet store the other night. Of course the guy there didnt know anything about them, what we know is from the internet. I was wondering how one of them would be with Jade, and what they are really like. I am having trouble finding a breeder anywhere close. My wife loves Jade but he isnt all that fond of her as far as her holding him and stuff like that. She wants something she can cuddle with. We have looked at green cheeks, cockatiels, and such, but she really liked the parrotlets. Any knowledge or advise would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Hello. I bought my Pacific Parrotlet from the pet store as they had sold her brother and she was in dire need of company. She is self contained and quite the independent type, which is fortunate as currently she has to be caged with several other birds. She will be free flying once I move to a house. I read lots of stuff on the internet about behaviour, longevity, diet, and housing etc, but I really believe each bird is what you make it. THey all bite occasionally, they love food of variety, they can be hand tame and most like cuddling. I like her so much (her name is Elizabeth the First) that I am looking to adopt another. WOuld I recommend you buying one? yes if you want a real cute charmer.
hope this helps
