my young indian ringneck
i've just purchased a young green indian ringneck from a mate just yesterday. He said that it was male and it is a year and 2months old. I haven't seen no sign of a ring on its neck. Could someone please tell me ways i can find out if it's a male or female. cheers

Until the bird is mature the only way to tell is with a blood test... one might have to wait until the bird is 18 months old and goes through it's 3rd moult before the male's ring appears.
A non scientific method to get an idea is to know that male Ringnecks strut, bob up and down, and stand up tall to impress their mates and posture for other males and my male (ringed) also responds to pictures of Ringnecks and taps his beak and makes a male to male display when he looks at boys and struts and goes "whoooaaaah" when he sees pictures of pretty girl Ringnecks.
