Training a bluffing juvenile

My juvenile is three months old now and is into about week 2-3 in the bluffing stage. Should I wait until after bluffing until I really start training him? It just doesn't seem right training step ups when he can get irritated. Do I just work right on through it or wait until after the bluff state? Also, he really hasn't figured out to use one talon to hold food and balance on the other foot and feeding himself. Does this particular act take time to develop?

You have to use your judgement with training. I wouldn't stop all together, just keep an eye out for the signals that your bird has had enough. Keep it short. I feel that training helps build a bond with your bird so providing you can "keep your cool" during bluffing it should help your bird cone out of this stage more quickly.

Also, I think coordination just comes with time and practice.

Actually his bluffing isn't that bad at all. I just get worried when I work on his step ups and he regularly tries to fly off my finger once he gets on. Sometimes he's better than others. Maybe since I am new to this I am overly concerned. I probably ought to be using treats as rewards.
