is this aviary ok to breed indian ringnecks
Hi I picked up this aviary from a breeder who was relocating. It measures 2 metres (L) by 1 metre(H) by 0.7 metre(W). It is partitioned in the centre so each section measures 1 metre (L) by 1 metre (H) by 0.7 metre (W). He has the nestboxes hanging outside the cage. On one side he bred an indian ringneck pair and in the other side he bred a rainbow lorikeet pair and both bred with success. The frame is made with angle iron which I am currently sanding and painting cos it has some rust and it was covered with weld mesh 25cm by 13cm. The aviary is of a suspended design and the partition can be removed to make it a single aviary. What I have seen other breeders use is a 1.8 metre by 0.9 metre by 0.9 metre suspended aviary for their pairs but have also seen some breeders use a 0.9 metre by 0.9 metre by 0.9 metre suspended with success so I'm a little confused. Do I keep my partition and breed two pairs or do I remove the partition and breed only one pair in this aviary?

Re: is this aviary ok to breed indian ringnecks
I would remove the partition and have one breeding pair. That is roughly the size of my own breeding cages and a good size for a breeding pair during breeding season but not big enough to keep them in all year round. They need around 3 to 4 meters in length when not breeding. I move mine into a 6 meter avairy when not breeding.
Also if the breeding boxes are attached to the outside of the cage and not in a safety walkway you need to be carefull the birds dont chew through the nest box or get out when you are checking it.
