See, Busey used to have Rick as his favorite person. Now he's all about me.
I told Rick that he's just being fickle, and is most likely going through his bluffing phase. He's been biting Rick lately. Hard. He's also being a little poo-poo head lately. But we love him.
He's come so far from the scared little birdie I picked up at the airport on July 2nd!
He steps up perfectly and will give you kisses when asked (If he feels like it) and even when not asked. He sits on his cage or playstand and chatters like a monkey.
Busey's favorite game is "You dropped it!" The heavier the object/bigger noise it makes, the better! I rue the day that he found out that he could lift his stainless steel treat cups.
A bit of advice for anyone who's trying to get their IRN to play with toys:
The best toy is the one that YOU are playing with!
If I want Busey to show interest in a toy, all I have to do is play with it myself. He'll come right over and do anything to get it away from me!
Did I mention the poo-poo head part?
I like to think it's because he trusts me to know which is the most fun toy ever, but deep down inside I know he's just greedy! LOL
He has an ever expanding repertoire of sounds, but has not started talking yet. Does anyone have any advice on teaching words? What age did your IRNs begin to talk?
I cannot believe how much I love my little tree pear monkey butt!
He's sooooo smart and funny and charming. Even when he's being insufferable.
He is NOT a cuddler. Sometimes he'll be sweet and sit on your shoulder and preen. Other times he is intent on removing your glasses and trying to eat your ear. Hands are not allowed to touch him unless they have food or are being offered as a perch. He will literally growl at you if you try to pet him!
But... I knew most IRNs weren't cuddly before we got him.
Anyway - there's my update on Busey.
Unfortunately - he's scared of the camera, so no really good pics.
I'll post the two most recent ones in the photo gallery.
