Re: female ring necks more aggreessive? tempermants of color
Hi exotica
When it comes to relating to humans, with our two, the female is the more 'passionate' of the two and when she gets scared, her first instinct seems to be to bite. However, I have seen other females that hardly bite at all.
Our male bites occasionally but you would describe the bite as "his hearts not in it". It doesn't hurt when he bites whereas our female has drawn blood on the odd occasion.
I hope that helps.
Ellie.
Generally speaking, the female is more agressive than the male... although each bird is different and this is not necessarily the case.exotica0095 wrote:usually its male parrot species that are more aggressive is it true female species are more tempermental?

I find myself agreeing with Ellie, as far as individual birds go. You just have to get a feel for your bird.
The hens tend to behave better for me, however. :P
I've only well and truly met two hens and one cock, though.
One is my darling Ink, who never bites at all and the other two are my breeding pair. I got them at 2 years old, but I got the girl to step up very quickly. She loves shoulders and sometimes it's hard to get her off. o.O
The boy bites. I guess, I never really knew how hard they could bite, because both the girls were so good with me. He seems very protective over his girl though, so that might be it. He's still a good boy. He'll step up on gloved hands (I got wary of letting him get skin) but as a result of this training, he still doesn't realize my hands are not for eating. :T
They'll both take treats from me though! <3
I suppose in the end, I find that the girls are more cuddly, but will get tempermental in breeding season. The boys are sweet also, but seem to be more interested in adventure than quality time. :P

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.

Whilst I only have two birds to base my judgement on, I would agree with Rueae. Our boy, Charlie, seems far more interested in being adventureous than in spending quality time with me.... he likes me and everything but isn't that dependent upon me. He follows the female around everywhere though.Rueae wrote:I suppose in the end, I find that the girls are more cuddly, but will get tempermental in breeding season. Ah, love.
