I have a beautiful now 6 month old IRN. When I first got my baby the bird was a mean bighter who made everyone bleed. But about a week later the bird recognized me as a flock member and we are best friends.
But i feel bad, My work schedule changed so now a couple of days a week i leave at 8 in the morning and dont get home until 12 at night because i have work and school. I live alone so he gets no attention except for the good morning rub and a good night kiss.
Would it be wise to get another Irn as a cage mate? Or are there any other suggestions, i only want the best for my best friend???
Should i get another one?

I totally understand your feeling hun... they sure can make us revolve around them. But, we all know you take care of your baby and love her very much thereby, making sure she has food, toys and immediate attention when you walk through the door.
On that note, I DO NOT recommend a cage mate. This will consist of the pair bonding together and wanting nothing to do with you. Perhaps not nothing, but very little. They will full-fill eachother.
This wouldnt be a risk I would want to take. I have two girls and I cage them seperately to avoid this problem. I was gone yesterday from 6 am til 2:30 am this morning (18 hours) so I know how you feel. If you get two, cage them seperately but close. That is what I do with my girls and Chief.
Theres my two-cents

I'm against a cage mate too... not only could they bond, but they could also kill each other. Female ringnecks can be very nasty!
She'll be ok as long as you give her what time you have to give. When I used to bartend I didn't get home until about 2:30 in the morning... and I'd take Mazzie out then for a shower with mom and to hang out with me until I was wound down enough to sleep. She'd sleep in with me and then spend time hanging out with me while I got ready for work each day.
She lived that way for well over a year and suffered no ill effects. She still prefers to be up at night... many nights after I have put the other birds to bed she and I snuggle up and watch TV together.
