Hello Everyone

Post by Apple »

Hi everyone thought I would introduce my self I’m Lee from Newcastle in the north of England. I have recently adopted Sammy from my friends who baught her from a family which could not handle her.

My friend tried to look after her but she would always go to bite anyone who went near her apart from me :D

I believe she is a she and have been told that she is about 6 – 7 months old but I am not sure of her sex or exact age or even her exact details I think she is a grey ring neck.

I have never looked after a bird of any kind and well she is gorgeous a proper little character. I have had her just over a week and have been bitten a few times but hey my fault.

I am able to stroke her and she will take food from my hand and sit on my hand when she feels like it no problems both inside and outside of her cage.

She is starting to explore more and more every day but is very nervous of new toys I think she just needs time to realise they are fun and not a danger.

I’m also going to take her to see a vet next week in order for them to show me how to cut her nails and get some tips on her care.
To be honest she is great company and I can’t believe I never considered a feathered friend before.

So that’s a little about us I have been reading the forums and looking around what a great place.

Hope you all have a great day

Hi Lee

Welcome to the forum. only time will tell if you have a boy or a girl. I can't quite make it out in the pics, but Sammy looks like a grey lacewing. Does she have a white head, and pale grey body?
Here is a good site with ringneck colours, and if you click on the grey lime, I think that is what Sammy is. They normal greys are a lot darker.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures. Also looking forward to seeing what kind of cage you choose.

This really is a great site, there isn't a whole lot of good info about IRPs and I'm so thankful for this forum!
