Why she doesn't lay eggs?

Post by Dream »

Hi.
My name is Roya .
I have a pair of Indian ring-neck ( Male= Green & Female= Blue)
They're a couple for almost 2 month now and I've seen them mating for 2-3 weeks (or more) .

But I don't know why they don't have eggs yet? :(
Is it too soon?
Female goes to nest and stays there for 1-2 hours, comes out for eating or walking around the cage and some times for mating. and again she may stay or go back to the nest. She used her feathers for nesting too.
Is there a problem with the female? or male?
shouldn't I check the nest? ( Female sleeps out side of the nest at night  )
Is it possible that they mate for months and No Eggs?

how old are your pair?
whats happening with the breeding in your neighbourhood?
I'm located in Asia.
Breeding season is almost over here.
It started from 4 month ago. But many of my friends here have pairs and they have eggs right now.
I'm not sure about their age but Male must be 4-5 years old and female is older.

And about the breeding season... My friends' pairs may have eggs all over the year for 2-3 times. (even in other seasons)
So... is breeding season important that much?

was there copulation? the cock is of a good breeding age so if theres a problem bird it could be the hen. unless she is not old enuf to produce eggs?
do you have an avian vet you could take here to?
As I mentioned she is 5-6 years old .

And about the copulation the answer is yes.
And I can't trust any vet here :?

Thanks a lot for your help. I believe that all of the things and terms that you said are complete.
The cage, diet, nest, light, temperature, and...
but I'm not sure about the hen and if she has a problem with egg laying. and egg eaten by them

One last question:

Can I check the nest-box?
Does this scares the female?as she spends a lot of time there?

if you have a routine, your hen will know, and she will eventually expect your inspection.
are there many breeders in your area? what pellet diet is available there? is there baby rearing formulae also available?
do you have other birds?
do parrots live in your area?
There are few ringneck breeders here, and it considers as a very hard job.
but we have cocktails and budgie breeder here.
I have a minah too. but he is in another room and doesn't bother parrots.
About the pellet. Versele-Laga , Deli-nature, Kaytee, Vitakraft, Prestige, Nutri-bird (orlux) and ... . These brands are available here,
I feed my birds with Exotic fruits (versele-laga) . and other seeds and fruits and vegetables.
And baby rearing : Nurti-bird, handi mix, Exact and some other brands.
Parrots live in our parks here and near the woods and river. (We have a park near our house )
