green split to blue male x lutino hen

Post by evelch »

I have never bred birds before and am curious what colour chicks i might get if I breed a green split to blue male with a lutino hen. Not positive if the males father or mother was the blue one, but think it was the mother. The female definitely had a green father and a lutino mother. I tried reading about genetics but found it quite mind boggling.

Visually you'll get all Greens. The males will be split Ino, while about half of all chicks will be split Blue.

Thanks...does this mean if I breed the male with a blue female i will get some blue babies? Also will this male produce other colours if I breed him with different coloured females.

Yep, you'll get Green and Blue babies if you pair the male with a Blue hen, and depending on what else you pair him with you can get other colours.
