Introducing myself

Post by Little Buttercup »

Hi,
I'm new to IndianRingNeck.com. My name is Ash. I have a cockatiel and had a Ringneck until recently. The reason I am here is I love IRNs. And I have recently lost my Ringneck and out of sadness was browsing the net and just reading about ringnecks.

Thanks Kiki22, as soon as I get a little extra time I'm going to write more about how I lost my baby. I'm just crying now as yesterday I tragically lost my goat.  I will write the story of Candy the goat as well in the grieving section. :? :x :(

:) yaaaaaay, is he tame? Also I bet kiwi is excited about another bird, I have a semi tame one in with my cockatiel but that's just because lynx (my cockatiel) loves him and they preen each other everyday, apart from recently my ing neck is trying to fees lynx :? We are in Queensland so still 6 months from breeding season, hahaha! Lynx doesn't mind though he just squabbles with him and then the ringneck preens him. Good luck with your new one and I am one day going to get my own handraised one, probably after this breeding season as long as my 2 pairs breed :) what you going to name him?

Hi there, for a few days I didn't have online connection and couldn't come on. You guys seem so excited! But I simply won't be able to manage with 2 untame birds. Its going to make my work with Kiwi harder. And I don't have the heart to keep them in the same room but separate cages and not let them play with each other. So for now I will just settle with Kiwi and when I feel the time is right I will get another one for him, but he must be a handreared one. So that Kiwi can learn from him too. Also I leave Kiwi and Coco out of the cages for half a day and it seems so unfair to keep one locked up. So for now its just Kiwi and Coco for me, but as soon as I can get hold of a tame cockatiel will get it for Coco.
Two greens would be nice, Missk. But my kids keep on saying I must get another colour, maybe blue, if I decide to buy another ringneck. Will see whatever I can get.

CMG, you so lucky your cockatiel loves the ringneck, Kiwi wants to play with Coco but he is scared and just go away, when kiwi comes next to him he just flies off.

Aww, I handraised my cockatiel from 2 weeks and tamed this ringneck but didn't try to make him super tame I just taught him to step up and let my hold him in my hands, not patting though because didn't have time to play with both, I had to separate my ringneck from my cockatiel to ;( I put him in with a spare female I had because he kept trying to mate, feed and go the mating ritual to my cockatiel and he started getting angry at the ringneck and tried to attack him :( they are both fine and happy now because I got lynx (cockatiel) a semi tame girlfriend and they are now best mates and she is getting tamer each day and they preen each other daily :) good luck with your birds and greens, blues, yellows, and albinos are usually all the same price handraised here in Australia and that's usually $150 :) I think get a blue, they are very pretty!

Hi there, Today is exactly 1 year that my first ringneck Little Buttercup went away :( and tomorrow is my birthday. I actually found out she died on the morning of my birthday

You right Missk, I also can't just have another one now so soon when Kiwi isn't tame yet, at least to a certain degree I want him to be tame. He is doing well, I did'nt introduce him to the other one so he still is happy. It would be double trouble for me to tame both of them.

CMG, you lucky your two preen each other. I don't know how to get Coco to understand that Kiwi is try to be nice and that he should not just fly away like that :? About colours I will check out the differents colours when i'm ready to get another one. As it is my kids always get what they want and my likes I have to shove aside
