bitting habbit

hi i wana ask hw to stop the bitting habbit of alex n irn parrot? they sit on my hand bt when they r inside the cage they bite on my hand n dont wana sit on my hand i usually use a stick to sit on it n then i slowly move them on my hand then they dont bite me .. plz help me hw to stop this? i just gave them baby teether nw ..

Parrots and parakeets are usually quite territorial about their cage. So instead, why not try to ask them to come out, and if they do then you give them a treat and praise them. If they refuse to come out, try holding a treat just outside the cage and then ask them to come out, then praise them. That way they learn to associate the command with the treat, and it will be a lot easier for you

thank you faaria that im gona try for sure.. one thing more the male Alex when sits on my hand i just pat him on his head n love him but smtimes he trys to bite me as if he dont want the patting ?? wat can i do abt tht?

Sometimes your bird won't be in the mood for patting, so if it goes to bite you, then just stop patting him. Another way to try to avoid getting bit in the first place is to look for signs as to whether your bird wants to be pat in the first place. Our girl gives definite signs but I don't know if all birds do. Generally if she doesn't like the patting, she will shape to bite but not actually bite... as she knows she doesn't need to bite to communicate that she wants us to stop patting her. Biting is a method of communication.
